Granite is a geometric modeling kernel developed by Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC) which was mainly used in early versions of Pro/Engineer. Although superseded by ACIS since CREO releases, Granite is still used as the interoperability format in all Pro/Engineer releases. The Granite file extension is .g.

The Granite format is designed to facilitate interoperability between different CAD software applications. However, this format is only used by a limited number of CAD software, mainly PTC solutions. It allows to transpose the geometry without loss between software having the same geometry engine.
