SCRA, an applied research and development corporation, today announced the winner of the PDES, Inc. Consortium Bryan K. Martin Award. The award is presented annually to the individual who has demonstrated superior technical contributions to the PDES, Inc. program. PDES, Inc., an international industry/government/academia consortium, supports the Digital Enterprise through the development and implementation of information standards through Model-based Engineering, Model-based Manufacturing, and Model-based Sustainment. Led by SCRA's Applied R&D, PDES, Inc.'s members represent leading manufacturers, national governmental agencies, software vendors and research organizations.

This year's winner of the Bryan K. Martin Technical Excellence Award exhibited leadership and technical expertise in developing a core capability for the consortium. Ed Paff has worked with PDES, Inc. for over 20 years and has been active in STEP (STandard for the Exchange of Product model data) development and deployment. Ed is a key player in the CAx-IF and was recognized for his willingness to test new implementation approaches outside of regular test rounds. "Ed is a highly respected, key member of our team," said PDES, Inc. President and Chairman, Dr. Michael Jahadi, "His pragmatic attitude and good spirit, coupled with his dedication, commitment and technical expertise sets an example for the entire PDES, Inc. team."

The Bryan K. Martin Technical Excellence Award was created in honor of Bryan K. Martin, an exceptional individual who died in 1991 in an airplane crash. Martin was a strong leader within PDES, Inc. and worked tirelessly to achieve the PDES, Inc. goals.
